Memorial services for Clarence Nichcolson Frierson will be held at First Presbyterian Church,900 Jordan Street, Shreveport on Monday April 28,2008 at 2 p.m. Mr. Frierson was born on February 25, 1925 on Frierson Plantation at Gayle, Louisiana,and passed away there on Saturday April 26, 2008. The son of Mary Nicholson Frierson and George Archer Frierson, and the brother of George Archer Frierson, Jr., all of whom predeceased him, Mr. Frierson is survived by Betty Basinger Frierson, his beloved wife of 59 years, and four sons.

The Frierson family moved from South Carolina to the Caddo and DeSoto Parishes area of northwest Louisiana in the middle 1840's, where they continue to live today. Mr. Frierson was the fourth generation of his family to live and farm cotton on Frierson Plantation. He was educated in the Caddo Parish schools, and graduated from Byrd High School. While attending Washington and Lee University, he joined the United States Navy, graduated from the Navy Midshipman's School at Columbia University in New York, and served in the amphibious fleet in the Pacific theater during World War II. Following the war's end,he graduated from Louisiana State University and returned to live out his life at his home, Frierson Plantation, known to his family as "The Place".
