Helene Anderson Ludwig went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 7, 2011. She was comforted by her loving daughter, Patricia Pierce.

Helene was born March 29, 1917 in New Sweden, Maine. She was a beautician for over 50 years, retiring at age 85. She attended beauty school in Boston where she met and married her husband, Luddy, and had her only child, Patricia. The family moved from Quincy, Mass to Titusville in 1955, where she has resided since.

Helene was a charter member of Park Avenue Baptist Church, singing in the choir for many years. Later in life, she was very active in the senior ministry. Helene was a prolific poet, and many of her poems, expressing her deep faith, were published as a collection of inspirational prayer songs.

She loved to travel, visiting Holland, Canada, Sweden, England, and Alaska with her sister, Rosalind. Helene had a zest for life that was contagious, and she made many new friends during recent trips to Maine and Oregon with her daughter and granddaughter.

Helene was extremely proud of her Swedish heritage. She spoke Swedish fluently and was hostess for the annual gathering of the Swedes in Florida for many years.
