South Bend, IN - Joan Faith Timm, 75, of South Bend, passed away at 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, in the Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, after an extended illness.
Joan was born on June 10, 1931, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Svere S. and Mildred (Heinz) Malwin. Her stepmother, Elsie Malwin, also preceded in death. Joan had been a resident of South Bend since 1970, living in Lakeville for the past 17 years.
Joan retired from Memorial Hospital in secretarial. She was formerly employed with the South Shore Railroad. Joan was a 1949 graduate of Michigan City Elston High School. She enjoyed cooking for her family and treasure hunting at garage sales. Joan always had a special knack of making everyone feel welcome and at home. Most of all, she loved and cherished her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her three sons, Matthew (Pamela) Lane of North Liberty, Bruce (Trish) Timm of Mishawaka and James (Marla) Timm of Lakeville; six grandchildren, Dustin and Cody Timm, Tara Jackson, Kendra, Kellie and Garrett Lane; two brothers, Glenn Malwin of Michigan City, IN, and Jarl Malwin of Venice, FL; and two stepsisters, Jean Arndt of Lombard, IL, and Elaine Blackburn of Nokomis, FL.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2006, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, with a memorial service to follow, officiated by Dr. Jarl Malwin.
