THE LAST TAKEN.

Death of Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Bettendorf's Only Child.

The home of our esteemed fellow citizen, Mr. W.P. Bettendorf, is now resting under the shadow of a great bereavement, for that fell disease diphtheria has carried off from the afflicted parents their only child, Henrietta, whose death occurred Saturday at 5 p.m. Only nine weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. Bettendorf were called upon to mourn the loss of their son Henry, so that this latest grief comes upon them ere they had recovered from their first pangs of sorrow. Little Henrietta was only three and one-half years old, but she was a bright and cheery child, whose artless and endearing ways made her the angel of the household. The sorrowing parents are tendered by the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.

The funeral will take place this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the family home, corner of Sixth and Iowa streets, and it will be private. Interment will be made in Oakdale cemetery.
