BLACKIE ACKERMAN

The funeral for Blackie Ackerman, 84, who died August 12, 1990 at Kiowa District Hospital, Kiowa Kansas were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home in Cherokee. The Rev. Gary Hornish officiated. Burial was in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery.

Ackerman was born January 3, 1906, in Burlington to Jacob and Elizabeth Schwindt Ackerman. On December 15, 1932, he married Hazel McArthur in Coldwater Kansas. She died May 9,1986. He was a retired carpenter and had lived all his life in the Burlington community.

He is survived by one son, Dan of Mead, Kansas; three daughters, Betty Cutright of Cherokee and Carolyn Huber and Gay White, both of Manchester, New Hampshire; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Lung Association.
