Sammy Ray Gary
Sammy Ray Gary, 34, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be Saturday, Aug. 7, at Southwest Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Woodard officiating, directed by Abilene Funeral Home. Burial of the cremains will be at the Encinal Cemetery in Encinal, TX at a later date.
Mr. Gary was born in Freeport and moved to Abilene at a young age. He was a 1983 graduate of Cooper High School. He attended Mechanics T Technical College in Salt Lake City, Utah, and worked as a mechanic for Bob Lloyd's Shell Station. He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Dean Johnson of Abilene; his mother, Vanita Tenery Gary of Abilene; two brothers, Charles H. "Chuck" Gary and Steven "Allen" Gary, both of Venus, TX; companion and caregiver, Nancy Johnson of Abilene; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at the today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Southwest Park Baptist Church, 2901 S. 20th St., Abilene, TX. 79605.
