From the Powell Tribune:

(June 16, 1955 - Aug. 9, 2010)

David Earl Allen died Monday, August 9, 2010, in his sleep at his home in Powell.

Dave was born to James (Jim) and Mona Allen on June 16, 1955. He lived a very full life, even though it was too short.

Dave attended Powell schools and graduated from Powell High School. He married the love of his life, Laurie Dart, after high school, although they later divorced.

He had worked various jobs over his career, including farming, ranch work, oil rig work, lumber jack, construction, working with Powell Ready Mix for 17 years, mining reclamation and most recently for Heart Mountain Irrigation District, running heavy equipment. Dave also purchased Coulter Mall from his mother and was very busy keeping it maintained.

Dave was well known in the community and leaves behind many friends and acquaintances who fondly remember Dave as pursuing life with great entertainment and high energy. Dave loved the great outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, kayaking, riding horses in the back country, four-wheeling and driving his Baja bug in remote and interesting places.

He was preceded in death by his father, James (Jim) Allen; grandparents, Earl and Virgie Allen, Paul and Esther Emery.

He is survived by his mom and step-dad, Mona and Don Phay; sister Sherry Funk of Carmichael, Calif., her daughters Darci (Duston) Carpenter, their children Kylie and Kannon, and Deena (Rich) Howerton, their son Mason; sister Jody (Chuck) Frazier, their children Shawn (Ben) Hubbard, their sons Caiden and Callum; Jason Frazier; and Kaela (Trevor) Nelson, their daughter Jordyn; and sister Tracy (Joe) Darrah, and Tracy's son Neal (Jordan) Simpson; and extended families and friends.

Donations in Dave's memory may be made to Three Amigos, who provide equine therapy for disabled children. The address is 1071 Lane 11 1/2 Powell, WY, or donations can be taken to Dave Whittle's office.
