Garnet P. Brown, 87, of Elizabeth Township, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010. She was born Nov. 12, 1922, in Elizabeth Township, a daughter of the late George and Lillie (Sterner) Gash. Previously, Garnet had worked as a police officer in Elizabeth Township. She is survived by two daughters, Marla Brown and her husband, Jack, and Dawn Ann Brown; two sons, George Brown and his wife, Trudy, and Keith Brown and his wife, Sherry; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Brown; a son, Larry Jon Brown, who died Monday, April 19, 2010; two grandchildren, Deanna Wise and Kenneth Brown; a sister, Vera McCorkle; and a brother, Donald Gash. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., 901 Vine St., West Newton, where services will be held for Garnet and her late son, Larry, at 10 a.m. Monday with Pastor Darrel Evans officiating. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
