Mrs. Posey F. Cheek

Following an extended illness of almost four years, Mrs Posey F. Cheek, aged 49, died at her late home 2123 Michigan Ave, East End, shortly after 7 o'clock last evening. Death was due to complications.

Mrs Cheek was born at Wellsburg W. Va., but has been made her home in this city for the past twenty years. She was a member of the Oakland Free Methodist Church. Deceased is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs Harry Lisk of Newell, Mrs Frank Seevers, Mrs Joe Settig, Elsie and Myra of this city.

Her father, John D. Higgins and the following brothers and sisters also survive: Charles Higgins of Wellsburg, John of Martins Ferry, Ben of this city, Mrs George Houghton of Canton, Mrs Newton Hughes, Mrs Charles F. Wood and Mrs George Martin of this city.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, Rev. Mr. Large and Rev. Mr. Speer of the Oakland Free Methodist Church will officiate.

Estella Starkey Higgins Cheek ("Stella") was born October 8, 1868, the daughter of John Dallas Higgins & Elizabeth J (Ella) Vermillion. She married Posey Franklin Cheek on October 12, 1886.

She was proceeded in death by 2 infant daughters, Estella Blanch Cheek & Pearl Bell Cheek, as well as her mother, Ella.

Interment took place at Riverview Cemetery on February 28, 1918.
