Bob was born in Pocatello, Idaho on December 18, 1923 to Frank Eugene and Hannah Elise (Hansen) Fredrickson. He was raised in Pocatello where he graduated from high school. Immediately after graduation, he joined the Army Air Corp to serve his country in World War II. He was a belly turret gunner in a B24 bomber. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of sergeant.
Bob enrolled at Idaho State University and received his Bachelor of Arts degree. On August 11, 1948, he married Joan Wigand. They became the parents of 6 children.
Bob began his teaching career in Pocatello where he taught at Irving Junior High School. In 1962, he moved his family to La Grande where Bob accepted a teaching position with the La Grande School District. He taught art at the La Grande Middle School and La Grande High School. While in La Grande he finished his 5th year of higher education. In 1985, he retired after 25 years of service in education.
Bob enjoyed fishing and paper mache sculpting. He built a cedar chest for each of his daughters. He enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels. Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a faithful home teacher through his entire life. He also served as executive secretary for 6 consecutive bishops as well as being a member of the bishopric.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joan of La Grande; 3 daughters and their husbands, Jody Lynn and Bruce Bullough of Longmont, Colorado; Shara Lee and Neal Weatherspoon of Salem, Oregon; Deanne and Rodney Feik of Savannah, Georgia; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hannah; daughter Kathleen Andrews, a twin, who died in 2003; son Mark Wigand Fredrickson, a twin who died in 1949; son Robert Wigand Fredrickson; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
