He was a member of First Baptist Church West Columbia. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Mr. Austin loved to fly and ride his motorcycles. He was a certified pilot and had his stunt license. Mr. Austin owned his own business, Automotive Repair, for over 60 years in the Columbia area.

Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Hazel Lybrand Austin; son, Allen Austin (Pat); daughter, Sharon Gassaway (Lacey); son, Harvey Austin (Karen); grandchildren, Amanda Huffman (Chris) and Lindsey Gassaway; great-grandchildren, Tara, Faith and Anna Huffman, Dallas Faulkner and sister, Virginia Bowyer (Matt).
