David G. "Pert" Cushey, 88, of Venetia, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, in McMurray Hills Manor. He was born December 9, 1919, in Hackett, a son of Isaac and Jeanette Lytle Cushey. Mr. Cushey was retired as a machine operator with the former Mathies Coal Co. in Eighty Four. He was a member of Wright's United Methodist Church in Venetia, United Mine Workers of America and Hackett Club. Mr. Cushey enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing baseball. In his earlier years, he had an opportunity to play for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Surviving are two sons, David "Gus" Cushey and wife Vicki of Finleyville and Don A. Cushey and wife Irma of Washington; a daughter, Cheri Agostinelli of Venetia; two sisters, Gale Dobosh of Venetia and Lorraine Fink of Clarence Center, N.Y.; five grandchildren, David A. Cushey, Dana Cushey, Terri Bove, Dean Cushey O'Neil and Denis Cushey O'Neil; and six great-grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler, Alexa, David, Chelsea and Cassie. Deceased is his wife, Violet Cushey, who died March 28, 2008. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville, where services will be held at noon Wednesday, April 9, with the Rev. Tom Hoeke of Wright's Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Finleyville Cemetery. 4-8-2008
