He was the fifth of eight children born to Presley Adams and Mary Ann "Polly" Stevens. 1870 Federal Census lists B. W. Adams, 23 years old, single living in P.P. Adam's household. "Bluf", as he was known, married Fannie Bell Allen, February 9, 1874 and had one child who died in childhood. According to Frankfort files for the 4th Regiment Kentucky Cavalry - B. W. Adams, Boone County, eyes blue, hair light, complexion fair, height 5'9". Subscribed to oath May 22, 1865, along with his brother, J.P.H. Adams, along with others from Boone County. Served as County Clerk of Boone County for 14 years after the war.
