Born in Hopeton, CA to the late Manuel and Mary (Azevedo) Moniz on January 12, 1922, she was raised in Snelling, CA and attended school in Tracy, CA. She moved to San Francisco out of high school to help in the War effort working in the shipyards. Here she met Chuck Terry whom she later married and to this union three children were born. This union later ended in divorce
Gerri as she affectionately became known met Harry Alt and the couple was united in matrimony in 1949 and to this union one precious daughter was born.
Harry was employed with the railroad and was transferred back and forth between Plumas County and Stockton. The family resided in Portola from 1950-1951, Quincy 1954-1957 and again in 1960 where they have remained.
A devoted member of the Roman Catholic faith, Gerri regularly attended St. Johns Catholic Church. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden as well as relaxing with good music.
In passing Geri leaves her daughter; Debra Martin and her husband Henry of Quincy, son; Vance Terry of Quincy, a brother; Robert Moniz of Tracy, sister; Beverly Anderson and her husband Paul of Modesto, CA along with the prides of her later life, her seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Geri joins her husband of 38 years; Harry, daughters; LaVonne Miller and Valerie Terry and sister Oppie in their eternal home.
