Everything I've seen so far has Jane's maiden name as Sewell so I'm confused as to how her parents are
James F. and Nancy (Petty) Scroggins. I found the birth certificates of four of her children and they all have her maiden name as Sewell; not Scroggins.
I noticed William B HOWELL'S youngest brother, Alston, married Nancy Ann Sewell. Nancy A. Sewell, daughter of Samuel and Lucy (Trimble) Sewell.
I wonder if Alvina Jane and Nancy Ann are sisters. They are sisters.
