She was born in Nevada, Mo. and first came to California at age 26 with her three small children on a Troop Train. At that time her husband Loren Beaman was in Hawaii helping to clean up after WWII. Once he returned, they moved to the Stockton area. They continued to move back and forth from Missouri and Kansas until finally returning to California to settle in Lodi in 1956. LaVenia moved to Bakersfield, CA at age 83.
She was preceded in death by her husband Loren Shaw Beaman; sons David L. and George W. Beaman; her twin sister LaVinia (Porter) Jobe; sister Dorothy (Porter) White; brother Harold Porter; mother and step-father Alma and Ernie Hartleroad and son-in-law Norman E. Reed.
She is survived by daughter Carol L. Reed; daughter-in-law Traudi Beaman; grandchildren Vincent (April) Reed, Douglas (Kim) Reed and Esther (Robert) Shelton; great grandchildren Heather and Courtney Shelton, LaVenia and Ricky Reed and Colton and Emily Reed; numerous nieces and nephews in KS, OK and WA.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 10 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N. California St. with visitation prior to the funeral starting at 10:00 am. Committal will be at Farmington Cemetery.
