Dewey worked as a merchant marine/tug boat captain from the time he was 16 years old until he retired in 2004. His greatest enjoyments were boats and NASCAR. He was Baptist by faith.
Dewey is survived by his wife: Barbara Markham of Panama City; 8 children: Jimmy (Paula), Tommy (Linda), Ronnie, Jeffery (Teresa), Karen (Shane), Junior (Lynn), Barbara (Paul), and Carmon (Wally); 4 siblings: Harvey, Luvinia, Luverne, and Michael; 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog and coffee-drinking buddy: J.D. He was preceded in death by one grandson and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jim Standbury officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Callaway Cemetery.
