Mae Rymer Merrell, 98, a lifelong resident of Reliance, passed away Monday, May 4, 2009 in an Etowah hospital. She was the oldest member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church. She is the daughter of the late Eligah and Minnie Hall Rymer. She is also preceded in death by her husband Arthur T. Merrell along with their two infant sons; five brothers, Julius, John, Arthur, Hearse and Bill Rymer; four sisters, Lucy McCall, Pearl McCall, Auddie Hall and Mary Merrell. Survivors include her children, Beatrice and husband, Wayne Wilcox of Reliance, Bonnie Wilcox of Reliance, Fred and wife, Una Merrell of Reliance and Minnie and husband, J.M. Lowe; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Homer Belcher and Reverend David Moore officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7 at Greasy Creek Cemetery with a White Dove Release Ceremony.
