Lloyd Alford, 79, a native of Abilene, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. He passed away at his home outside of Florence, with his family at his side.

He was born in Abilene on December 16, 1925, to parents Arthur Carl Alford and Lou (Cleckler) Alford.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, June Alford of Florence; three daughters, Kay Shipp of Florence, Linda Richey of Leander, and Janet M. Altum of Liberty Hill; son, Danny L. Alford, missionary to Holland; sister Marie Copeland of Arlington; granddaughters, Angela Altum of Austin, Christie Byrd of Dripping Springs, and April Yeager of Florence; grandsons, Chad Rives of Cedar Park, Robert Alford of Tennessee, and Stephen Shipp of Kempner, and seven great-grandchildren.

The family received guests for visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005, at Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2005, in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial followed at Andice Cemetery in Andice.
