MARIANO M. GOMEZ

ARTESIA-- Mariano M. Gomez, 70, of Hank Ave., Artesia, died Monday, June 10, 1996, at his home.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. today at Terpening & Son Chapel. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father John Curran officiating. Burial will follow at San Marcos Cemetery.

Mr. Gomez was born January 19, 1926, in Artesia to Anita Montoya and Hilario Gomez.

He married Irene Ortega on February 7, 1952, in Carlsbad.

Mr. Gomez was a lifetime resident of Artesia. He was a retired construction laborer for Navajo.

He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Gomez, on October 1, 1989, and a daughter, Martha Gomez.

Survivors include daughters, Rebecca G. Florez, Anita G. Renteria, Susanna Gomez and Liza Gomez, all of Artesia; brother, Cosme Gomez of Artesia; sister Minnie Gomez of Artesia; and six grandchildren.

Bearers are Mariano Hinojos, Pedro Lopez, Benny Ortega, Manuel Esquibel Jr., Emilio Gonzales and Jeremiah Florez.

Honorary bearers are Goyo Vargas and Edward Ortega.
