Erlinda Martínez Gonzáles was born on January 4, 1926 in Sherman Oakes, CA.
Erlinda went be with the Lord early on Sunday morning, May 23, 2010, after a gallant fight with Parkinson's and Pancreatitis.
Erlinda was preceded in death by her husband, Fidel, elder sister, Christina Martínez-Escalera from Riverside, CA, sister, Elvira Martínez-Ybarra from Lordsburg, NM and son, Peter who died in infancy.
Erlinda is survived and was cherished by her six children, Jess J. Martínez, who she raised like another son after both parents died at a very young age, and his wife, Patricia, Patricia Gonzáles-Contreras, Louie Gonzáles and his wife, Vicky, Tommy Gonzáles and his wife, Debbie, Annette Gonzáles-Stout and her husband, Eddie and Paul Gonzáles, she leaves behind her grandchildren, Sandra and her husband, Dr. Les Donaldson, Rhonda and her husband, Vince Falcone, Jeannette and her husband, David Snell, Jay Contreras, Colt Gonzáles, Eric Gonzáles and his wife, Michelle, Tammy Gonzáles-Brown and her husband, Chris, Ken Martínez and his wife, Oksana, Kelli Martínez, Logan and Hannah Stout, plus seventeen great-grandchildren.
Erlinda was blessed to be a stay at home mom while her children were in school. Later she worked for Helweig-Farmer as an APS bus driver for about twenty years. Erlinda always possessed the most positive, graceful personality. Erlinda exhibited a tremendous amount of compassion, sincerity and respect to family and friends. Erlinda was an excellent cook, served up some delicious family meals with fresh home-made tortillas, that were never duplicated by others. We will truly miss this valiant, brave and Godly woman.
Services will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 4th and Mildred NW. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, off of Paseo del Norte and Wyoming NE. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Chris Brown, Jay Contreras, Colt Gonzáles, Eric Gonzáles, Logan Stout and Michael Vargas. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Les Donaldson, Vince Falcone, Ken Martínez, David F. Snell and Eddie Stout.
