Singer Songwriter. In the early 1960s, he moved to Hollywood, California and was a founding member of the soft-rock band Bread. Bread's debut album released in 1968 and the group had a string of hits which included, "Make It With You," "Baby I'm-a Want You" and "Everything I Own." He co-wrote "For All We Know," from the movie "Lovers and Other Strangers," and won an Academy Award for best song from a motion picture in 1971. The song was also a number one hit for The Carpenters. He also wrote such country hits as Conway Twitty's "Who's Gonna Know" and Restless Heart's "You Can Depend On Me." In the 1980s, he formed the group Black Tie with former Eagles members and he became a regular on the Nashville scene in the early 1990s with the band the Remingtons.
