Joseph was baptized 8 May 1757 at Berwick, Maine.

Joseph Wilkinson was a Revolutionary War pensioner who was present at General Burgoyne's Saratoga surrender.

In the book "Soldiers, Sailors and Patriots of the Revolution, Maine" on page 862 it lists James Wilkinson, a resident of Berwick in Captain Goodwin's Company, Captain Grant's Company, Captain Hamilton's Company and Captain Preble's Company.

He fought in four separate York County companies.

He was baptized 8 May 1757 at Berwick, York, Maine.

He was in Sanford as early as 12 Dec 1787 when he purchased property from Ephraim Low (York Deeds 63:103)

Joseph Wilkinson conveyed land where he was living "near son, Reuben Wilkerson" to son James Wilkerson 15 April 1809 (York Deeds 87:146).

By 1817, James Wilkinson conveyed some of this same property and half the barn to William Wilkinson, his assumed brother; Joseph also conveyed property to the same William Wilkerson, 4 July 1817 (York Deeds 100:3).

He married Dorcas Nason, who died 22 Jan 1849, a pensioner of the U.S., the administration on her estate listed four sons and a daughter as heirs.

He was a resident of Sanford in 1832 and died in 1842.
