James Harrison was the first child and son of Frances (Poling) Pitzer and Price Pitzer. He was born probably in Randolph County, Virginia, on February 19, 1835. He lived and was raised in both Randolph and Barbour Counties in Virginia. On December 13, 1853 he married Lydia E. Bowman born in Penn. and raised in Virginia. He was a large man, had a big frame, not fat, but strong.
In 1871 James Harrison and his family at that time (wife and five or six children) moved from West Virginia, probably to Brown County, Indiana, where his brother John Wesley had moved earlier. In or about 1879 James Harrison moved to Cooke or Montague County, Texas, one referance says Nocona, in Montague County, Texas. One story told, is that James was one of three brothers, who all left the Virginias' to seek their fortune. They lost track of each other, and never returned to Virginia. Lydia E. Bowman and James later moved to a farm just south of Post Oak, Texas, in Jack County. Lydia passed away Feb 07, 1892 and is buried in Pleasent Valley Cemetery, Clay Co., Texas. James Harrison was remarried to Susan McAnear on January 02, 1896. Susan is Buried in the Cemetery just south of Post Oak, Texas, right next to the road. James Harrision passed away November 02, 1919, and is buried next to his first wife and mother of his ten children at Pleasent Valley Cemetery, Post Oak, Texas. Children of James and Lydia:
