John A. "Jack" Pickering, 84 of Kewanee and Neponset, Il. passed away at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Kewanee Hospital. Jack was born on October 21, 1928 in Kewanee, Il. the son of Clarence and Helen L. (Swift) Pickering. He graduated from Neponset High School in 1946. Jack married Shirley Stabler on August 21, 1949 in Neponset. Shirley passed away March 1, 2003. He was also preceded in death by a brother Robert L. Pickering and a grandson Nathan James Pickering

Surviving are two daughters Pam (Ron) Currier of Neponset, Il., Lisa (Mark) Kemerling of Neponset, Il., one son Gregg (Kim) Pickering of Kewanee, Il., eight grandchildren Chadd (Liane) Currier of Olathe, Kansas, Heather (Rob) Currier-Cullinan of Tampa, FL.., Janelle (Justin) Williams of Naperville, IL., Derek Kemerling of Cary, IL., Brandon (Jen) Pickering, Danny (Autumn) Pickering , Ashley Pickering, Shane (Amy) Pickering all of Kewanee, fifteen great grandchildren. Jack farmed for several years and retired from Martin Engineering in Neponset after 20 years. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood-working, country and western movies and spending time with family.

Cremation was accorded. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. William R. Toliver will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Buda Rescue Squad.
