Several from this vicinity attended the funeral services Thursday of Jennie Hepler, wife of Howard Hepler of Grant, Iowa. She passed away Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. She has been in ill health for several years and suffered a paralytic stroke twelve days before her death. She has been a resident of Douglas township all her life. She was a member of Grant M. E. Church. Services were conducted by Rev. Frank Moore, pastor of the Methodist Church of Grant. Rogers of Red Oak; Henry Carmichael of Villisca; Henry Carmichael of Villisca, Clark Given, N. H. Jones, and Vannie Ashmore of Grant. Burial was made in Grant Cemetery.
Jennie Bacon was born in Douglas township, Montgomery County, Iowa. February 14, 1888, a daughter of R. T. and Nora Bacon. She grew to womanhood on a farm near Grant and July 6, 1911 was married at Red Oak, Iowa to Howard Hepler. To this union two sons and one daughter were born, who with the husband survive. The children are Clair Hepler of Grant; Kenneth Hepler of San Francisco, California, and Mrs. Erma Nielson of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is also survived by her aged mother, Mrs. Nora Bacon of Elliot, three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Lena Curry of Tulsa Oklahoma, Mrs. Della Miller of Omaha; Mrs. Ethel Neary of Elliott, C. B. Bacon of Sedalia, Missouri. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
