Edith was born in Iowa. She was musically inclined and played for Church services when she was only 12 yrs old. In 1902, Edith and her family moved to Port Angeles, Washington, she was 14 yrs old. On June 10, 1906 she married Chester Logan Baker, a merchant in Port Angeles. Edith and Chester moved to Seattle in 1915. In 1923 they moved to Bremerton. Edith started studying music , she applied and received her certificate to teach piano in public schools in Seattle, Tacoma and Bremerton, retiring in 1949. Edith was active in the Methodist Church as an Organist and Choir Director. She played for church services held in the Metropolitan Theater in Seattle for several years and while there was invited to go to Switzerland to play for the 1948 Olympic Games, but was unable to accept. Edith passed away from cancer, she was 89. She was cremated and her ashes scattered.
Edith and Chester had six children; Darl, Gladys, Jeanette, Donald, Doris and Neil.
