Mr. Finis Akin, son of the late Mr. Arvin Norman Akin and Mrs. Rosa Sharp Akin, was born 1 Apr 1919 in Green Co. and departed this life on 25 Feb 1991 at the Taylor Co. Hospital in Campbellsville. He was 71 years, 10 months and 24 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He united in marriage to Miss Mildred Maxine Judd on 12 Feb 1940, who preceded him in death on 19 Aug 1979. To this union was born 1 son: Mr. Gordon Akin of Campbellsville. He is also survived by 2 grandsons: Mr. Gordon Thomas Akin and Mr. Michael Todd Akin, both of Campbellsville; 1 great-granddaughter: Anita Carlotta Akin of Campbellsville; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Ruth Johnson of Louisville and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services for Finis Akin were conducted at 1 pm Wed. 27 Feb at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, with burial in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens in Campbellsville. Rev. Don Mackie officiated. The pianist was Teresa Hale. Active pallbearers were Raymond Pendleton, Pete Pierce, Ray Houk, William E. Johnson, Tom Walker and Herman Bell. Honorary pallbearers were Coy Rainwater, J.C. Rainwater, Garth Dudgen, Tommy Grammar, Marshall Smith and Grover Smith.
