Jeanette was born on December 26, 1936 at home in Big Coulee, SD to Baptiste and Louisa (Roy-Lafromboise) Barker Sr. She attended elementary school at the Wahpeton Indian School and later Stephen. She received her GED when she was 46 years old. She was a homemaker but had worked briefly at NESCAP and Helgren Farms in Dilworth, MM as a laborer. Jeanette liked rummaging, puzzles, playing whist, moccasin games, wacipi, plants, playing bingo, and watching baseball, golf and boxing. Jeanette passed away on January 5, 2013 at Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD Jeanette is survived by 4 children, Edmund Johnson Sr. of Webster, SD, Harold Johnson of Watertown, SD, Sharon Johnson of Sisseton, SD and Tracey Cooper of Sisseton, SD; one sister Darlene Barker of Spokane, WA and one brother Dave Lewis of Flandreau, SD; 15 grandchildren, Ryan Cordie, Edmund Johnson Jr., Ericca Johnson, Elise Johnson, Calen Johnson, Lenora Johnson, Leslie Heminger, Devonna Goodteacher, Joshua Johnson, Waylon Brown, Claude Brown Jr., Dora Brown, Koel Eastman, Kelsey Eastman, and Kollen Eastman; 30 great grandchildren Edmund Johnson III, Adrian Johnson, Avaya Carlson, Andre Heminger, Kaleb Heminger , Wi'iyoyanpa Heminger, Sasha Johnson, Julian Johnson, Dallas Goodteacher, Brianna Goodteacher, Mikaela German, Michael German, Matthew German, Mia German, Bonna Johnson, Belle Johnson, Nathaniel Johnson, Samuell Johnson, Rhea Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Emily Johnson, Austin Goodteacher, Ashley Goodteacher, Elliot Schoenrock, Joshua Johnson Jr., Jozlyn Johnson, Shalaine Selvage, Sabre Selvage, Saden Selvage and Haleigha Graves and 2 great-great grandchildren Dante Johnson-Lovato and Gabriel Johnson-Lovato, and one on the way. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Baptisle Barker Jr., Cornelius Kirk, Albert Spider; two sisters Mabel Spider and Betty Spider; one grandson Shaun Johnson.
