Eva E. (Washington) Cleveland, 71, of Tenth Street, Waynesboro, departed this life Saturday, August 8, 2009, at her residence.

She was born in Waynesboro, Virginia, July 30, 1938, a daughter of Robert and Catherine (Johnson) Washington.

Eva moved to the Washington Metropolitan area, where she raised her family. Upon retiring from the Maryland School System, she moved back home to Waynesboro, Virginia.

She was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she served as Mother of the Restoration Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Thomas Cleveland of the residence; 10 children, Jacqueline Irby and her husband, Felix, Debra Rodgers and her husband, Mitch, Romana Cleveland, Rhonda Graves and her husband, Kelly, Mary Strickland and her husband, Robert, Beverly Crowder and her husband, Tony, Thomas "Buck" Cleveland, Charlotte Cleveland, Twanda Comer-Pulley and her husband, Melvin, and Yolanda Cleveland; one sister-in-law, Virginia Eaves; one stepsister, Jessie Thorpe; 14 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
