January 15, 1918 - January 1, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Wilma, 94, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 1, 2013. She was born Jan. 15, 1918 in Minco, OK to Marmy Duke & Ella Mae McDaniel. She graduated from Minco High School in 1935. After completing high school she attended at OCW in Chickasha for 3 years where she completed business courses. Shortly after that Wilma moved to Lawton and worked in Civil Service at Ft. Sill. On May 9, 1951 she married Leon Garrison in Cameron Baptist Church in Lawton. Together they raised their two daughters Deborah and Gail in the Lawton area. From 1967 until 1987 she worked at the Great Plains Vo-Tech as a secretary in the nursing department. In 1991 Wilma moved to Oklahoma City to be with her family. She became a member at Oakcrest Church of Christ and was very involved with church activities. Family was very important to Wilma. She loved spending time with them. She also loved food and enjoyed cooking for her family. Wilma liked to travel with her sister Ada when she was able. In her spare time she liked to read. She was an avid reader and loved Sue Grafton's Mystery Novels and biographies. She will be deeply missed. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister Mary Banta. She leaves behind her daughters, Debbie Combs of Moore & Gail Aguirre of Half Moon Bay, CA; sister, Ada June McDaniel; 3 grandchildren, Carrie Compton and husband Chris, Katee Hale and husband Andy, & Olivia Aguirre; 2 great grandchildren, Cooper and Cale Compton; and a host of loving family and friends. Viewing will be 4-8 PM Thursday & Friday with family to receive friends 4-6PM at Vondel Smith Mortuary, S. Lakes. Services to celebrate her life will be 10:00 AM Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Oakcrest Church of Christ, 1111 SW 89th St. with burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
