Hinkhouse, a resident of Littleton, Colorado, for 23 years, died Thursday, November 11, 1965, at the Crerrelyn Manor nursing home at age 65. He had a stroke in 1959 and overcame the paralysis. He similarly recovered from a second stroke in 1961, but a third stroke last January left him paralyzed. He entered the nursing home in February. He was born in Dissen, Germany, on August 23, 1900, and was brought to America when he was ten years old. The family settled in Correctionville where Mr. Hinkhouse spent much of his life. He was operating a garage and a farm at Pierson in 1942 when his daughter, Betty, grew worse with her asthma. He had a closing out sale and moved his family to Littleton. Mr. Hinkhouse first worked for Coleman Motors, then opened an appliance store in Englewood in partnership with Leonard Robohm. He spent the last ten years before his illness in the carpenter shop at the Gates Rubber Company. At one time he was president of the Littleton Rod & Gun Club. On Christmas Eve 1923 he married Anna M. Hadan in Norfolk, Nebraska. The couple had three daughters. The first, Delores May, was killed in an auto accident in 1924. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Hyle (Betty) Steele of Littleton and Mrs. Don (Shirley) Sutton of Long Beach, California, and five grandchildren. Rev. David F. Larson of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a cousin, Rev. Clarence Hinkhouse of Fort Collins, Colorado, conducted services on Monday, November 15, 1965, at Holy Trinity. Interment was at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden.
