Elizabeth was the daughter of Aaron & Mary (Polly) Lilly. She married John Sands Niles about 1835 near the bank of the Hudson River in Easton Township, Washington County, New York. She & John then moved to Leon Township, Cattaraugus County, New York. In the 1850's the family moved to Windsor Township, Dane County, Wisconsin. She had several children: Stephen Lansing Niles (b.1836) who married Sarah Ann Sullivan, Henry Sherman Niles (1837-1875) who married Mary Ann Sullivan (sister of Sarah), Lucy Mariah Niles (1839-1913) who married 1st Joseph Warren Buck and 2nd William Henry Parliament, Elizabeth Jane Niles (1841-1875) who married James Monroe Ingalls, Susan Cornelia Niles (1843-1906) who married Aaron H. Abeel, Benjamin Milks Niles (1844-1930) who married Margaret Jane Weir, Cordelia Ann Niles (b.1847) who married John S. McDowell, and Aaron John Niles (1849-1912) who married Elsie J. Hall. The top of her gravestone has been broken off and is missing.
