Alfred Aggas was born in 1841 and died on October 6, 1899. He married Agnes Pollack, who was born in 1843 and died in 1919. Alfred served in Company L of the 4th Pennsylvania Cavalry, from October 6, 1861 to March 23, 1863, whereas he was severely wounded at the Battle of Gaines Mill. He re-enlisted on August 30, 1864 in the 6th Pennsylvania Artillery Battery A and was promoted to a Corporal on December 29, 1864. He was discharged on June 13, 1865 having spent most of his re-enlistment around Washington D.C. Alfred was a resident of Clay Township in Butler County. He and his wife were charter members of Springdale Lutheran Church. He died in Bellefontaine, Ohio and is buried in the North Cemetery in Butler County, Pennsylvania. He was a member of G.A.R. 105. Three children were born to Alfred and Agnes (Pollack) Aggas.
