Warren Harding Garman enlisted in the Marine Corps 11 May 1942 from Des Moines, Iowa. Completed recruit training 4th Recruit Training Battalion MCB San Diego. Assigned Casual Company Recruit Depot MCB San Diego then Tank School Training Center MCB Camp Elliott where trained and designated Tank Mechanic (MOS 660). Promoted to PFC, Corporal and Sergent. January 1944 assigned C Company 5th Tank Battalion 5th Marine Division MCB Camp Pendleton. August 1944 overseas San Diego to Camp Tarawa Hawaii. Promoted to Platoon Sergeant MOS 715. January 1945 left Pearl Harbor invasion of Iwo Jima. Landed D-Day 19 February particiapated in combat operations until Killed in Action 20 February 1945
