Marcelina Escareno Burgos, 56, native and longtime resident of Salinas, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012, in Salinas. She was born September 16, 1956.

Marcelina loved her children and grandchildren immensely and enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a passion for cooking as well as sketching, especially of people and birds. Marcelina served as a previous Eucharist Minister at the St. Mary of the Nativity Parish in Salinas. She was loved by many and will forever remain in our hearts and minds.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Albert) Lara of Salinas; son, Brian Lara of Seaside; sister, Gabriela E. Hernandez of Texas; grandchildren, Albert, Jr., Zoey and Sophia; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jaime Burgos and her parents, Isidoro and Rita Escareno.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 1 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary recital at 7 p.m., all at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.

A Funeral Mass will take place Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10 a.m., at the St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church, 424 Towt St., Salinas, CA 93905.

Burial to follow services at the Greenfield District Cemetery, 917 Elm St., Greenfield, CA 93926.
