He was born June 24, 1873 at Muskegon, Michigan, the son of Franklin and Sarah Helen Cook Van Sickle. At the age of 16 he came with his parents to Willard, Utah where they resided for three years before going to Portland, Oregon for a year. Following his return to Utah he married Catherine Edwards on April 18, 1893. They resided at Willard for three years before coming to Idaho, locating in Marysville. Two years later he homesteaded a dry farm at Farnum. They family still operates the original dry farm in that section. For the past twelve years they have spent the winters in St. Anthony.
At Farnum he was a member of the school board and at the time of his death he was a director of the Cornant creek water project.
He is survived by three daughters and one son, Mrs. Pearl Watts, St. Anthony; Mrs. Margaret Helen Hall and Vella Irene Boxham, Twin Falls; Victor Hyrum Van Sickle, San Francisco, California, by right grandchildren and two brothers, Lynn Van Sickle, Rockland, Idaho and Frank Van Sickle, Dillon, Montana.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the L.D.S. tabernacle with Bishop Martin Davis of the Third ward officiating Burial will be in the Pineview cemetery under direction of the Hansen funeral home.
