Death Takes J. A. Abernathy
John Allen Abernathy, 92, of 4549 Lorraine, a retired banker and a resident of Dallas for the last 20 years, died Monday in a Dallas hospital.
Abernathy was born in Collin County and spent most of his early life in Bonham, where he was with the First National Bank. He was an elder in the Christian Church there.
Later, he moved to Graham, Young County, where he was owner of the Graham Insurance Agency.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. tuesday in the Ed. C. Smith & Bro. Funeral Chapel, 4103 Swiss. Dr. Patrick Henry, Jr., pastor of the Northway Christian Church, will officiate, assisted by Dr. H. Kerry Taylor, assistant pastor of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, and three daughters, Mrs. Grace LaCurto of New York City, and Miss Ruth Abernathy and Mrs. D. E. Scruggs of Dallas.
Pallbearers will be A. E. Schella, R. J Biard Jr., J. Wesley Johnson, A. M. Trigg, Allen Evans and A. M. Bridges.
