She was a graduate of Edward Little High school, and later graduated from Smith's Business College.
For some time she was a school teacher.
She was a member of the Freeport Grange, Pocahontas and the Free Baptist church.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick; one son, Clyde Higgins of Madison, ME; and a twin brother, George E. Staples of Auburn, ME.
