Joseph F. Bean was born Jan 13, 1841 in Frederick Co., Va., but during the Civil War, served in Co. A, 87th Ohio Infantry. He returned to Frederick Co., and was a member of Winchester's Mulligan Post #30, Grand Army of the Republic.
He married Margaret Ellen Larrick on Feb 8, 1870. Joseph was the son of James Bean Jr. 71448355 & Gulielma (Fawcett) 71448446 . Margaret was the daughter of Asa Larrick 40352165 and Rebecca (Hottel) 40353327 . They had 5 children: Frank, Rebecca, James Asa, Madeline "Debra", and Joseph Henry.
In 1902, he was serving at Winchester's Mulligan Post #30, Grand Army of the Republic as the post's adjutant. He died Sept. 25, 1929, in Winchester, Va.
