Mary passed on Friday, November 23, 2012. She was a resident of Annandale Virginia and died peacefully at the age 88 years old.

Born Mary Louise Martin on May 23, 1924 in Duluth, Minnesota to Horace B. Martin and Emma Surrat Martin. She grew up in during the great depression in Lake McGregor in Northern Minnesota. Later in life during World War II she moved to Southern California and worked as a riveter in the defense industry. During that time she met her husband, Milton James Cox and they were married in Bremerton Washington in 1946. They later settled in Chicago. She had five children Brian, Craig, Tana, Maureen, David and Sarah.

In 1959 she and her famity settled in Whittier California. As a Christian, Mary had strong faith and was very active at st. Matthias Church in Whittier and later served as Treasurer of St. Joseph's Church in Buena Park.

In 1991 she moved to Northern Virginia and lived first in Fairfax and, later in Annandale. Her life was filled with service to others. She lived a full life enjoying travel, bridge, golf, hockey games, family and friends

She is survived by her children, Brian (Ann) Cox, Craig (Valerie) Cox, Tana Maples, Maureen Challenger, David Cox and Sarah Parker; by her grandchildren, Clare (Daniel) Rice, John (Rebecca) Cox, Kevin Maples, Cory (Margeaux) Challenger, Sean Challenger, Alyssa Challenger, Taylor Cox, Matthew Cox; one great-grandson, Eric Rice; a younger brother, Edwin F. Martin, and her nephews and niece, Dr. John Martin, and Bob and Gayla Martin.
