Graveside services will be held at Westview Cemetery in Augusta on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 1:00PM with full military honors.
Mr. Ashmen was born in Camden, New Jersey to the late George H. Ashmen, Sr. and Thelma Staub Ashmen. He retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant after serving 22 years.
Survivors include his two sons, George H. Ashmen III (Melody) of Appling, Jason Ashmen (Michelle) of Nashville, Tennessee; five daughters, Jennifer Wallace (Mark) of Olympia, Washington, Charlotte Gaines (Kevin Patterson) of Crestwood, Kentucky, Tabitha Rowe (James) of Thomson, Joyce Ashmen of Augusta, Jessica Ashmen (Wayne Hutto) of Augusta and sixteen grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, Daniel E. Ashmen, Sr., Peter Ashmen, Patrick Ashmen, Jeffery Ashmen, Sr. and four sisters, Iris Chase, Diane Pumphrey, Debbie Kelly, and Arlene Horton.
