Michael Robles Aceves, 40 of Las Cruces, NM passed away at home, on Monday, October 1, 2007. He was born February 17, 1967 in Las Cruces, NM to Guillermo and Genevieve Aceves. Michael was a 1986 Mayfield High School Graduate and a member of the Catholic Church.
Michael was a very caring and giving man who would do anything to help anybody. He loved God and his family and had great faith. He was always there for his family and friends or even a stranger, whether it be to raise their spirits or give a helping hand. His big heart, beautiful personality, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael also loved his truck and was known by many people as "the guy with the purple truck with all the lights." He enjoyed entering the LC 4th of July Electric Light parade every year and won 1st place the first time he entered the competition. He enjoyed going to watch car races at the Southern NM Speedway and became friends with many people there.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Nicole M. Aceves, who was the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his parents, Guillermo and Genevieve Aceves of Las Cruces, NM; two brothers, Freddie Rigales and Ben Aceves both of Las Cruces; Also surviving him are four sisters, Rebecca C. Castillo (Alex) of Las Cruces; Mary Helen Trejo (Joe) of Las Cruces; Rachel R. Ochoa (Jackie) of Redding, CA; Lupe A. Valenzuela of Las Cruces; a special aunt, Candelaria Aceves of Las Cruces, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His brother Billy R. Aceves preceded Michael in death in 2001.
Visitation for Michael will be from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, October 5, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. The Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 PM led by Fr. Narciso Rivera. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 AM on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1175 N. Mesquite, Las Cruces. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Officiating will be Fr. Francisco Ovideo. Serving, as pallbearers will be Ben Aceves, Ray Aceves, Johnny Castillo, Manny Sosa, Joe Trejo, JD Valenzuela, Joey Trejo, and Christopher Ochoa. Honorary bearers will be Freddie Rigales, Jackie Ochoa, Victor Castillo, Tracy Turner and Ralph Sosa.
