William R. "Bob" King Sr., 80, of Old Gap Road, Carlisle, passed away Friday, July 6, 2007, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland County, and was a son of the late George A. and Clara (Cornman) King.

Bob served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and was stationed in Hawaii and the Philippines. He was a bricklayer and stone mason for many years and was a longtime member of the Bricklayers Local 71 in Harrisburg. He formerly attended the North Middleton Church of God, Carlisle. Bob was a member of the V.F.W. Post 477, White Circle Club, American Legion Post 101 and the Eagles Aerie 1299 all of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty King, Viola Cornman and Isabel King.

He is survived by his son, William R. "Bob" King Jr. and his wife Ina of Graham, N.C.; two sisters, Esther Penner and Effa Barrick, both of Carlisle; two brothers, George L. King of Newville and Charles E. King of Carlisle; and 10 nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Burial will be private at the North Middleton Church of God Cemetery, Carlisle.
