Tony was an Aviation Structural Mechanic - Safety Equipment, Petty Officer First Class (AME1) attached to Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron Three, HA(L)-3 in Vietnam as a helicopter door gunner during the 1968 Tet Offensive where he was awarded a Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal (w/Combat V), Vietnam Service Medal (w/three bronze stars), Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He also earned the Navy Good Conduct Medal (w/four bronze stars), and National Defense Service Medal.
