The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord this evening (Wednesday, Dec. 19), from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord Chapel Thursday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jeff Burris of Harvest Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church cemetery.
Mack was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Cabarrus County, to the late Homer and Elma Downum Green, parents to 15 children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Furr Greene*.
Mack grew up in farming. He served in law enforcement as a Cabarrus County Deputy until he became a truck driver, where he retired from TCT Trucking. He was also a member of The Teamsters Local Union No. 71.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Greene and wife, Jean; daughter, Susan Standish; grandchildren, Nigel and Nora Standish; step-grandchildren, Wesley Drye and Rodger Drye Jr.; brothers, Everette J. Green and H. Jack Green; sister, Ethel G. Little; his long-time, extra special friend, Doris Correll and her family; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially Savannah.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the excellent care provided by The Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, the units of CMC-NorthEast, who took care of Mr. Greene during his recent illness, as well as the entire staff of Transitional Health Services.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081.
