Thomas G. Carpenter, 30, 311 W. Park Street, Morrison, died Friday, June 19 in Morrison Community Hospital. the funeral was Tuesday, (today) at 2 p.m. in the Ebenezer Reformed Church preceded by a 1:45 p.m. family prayer service. Rev. Robert Dietz, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from 2 t0 4 and 7 to 9 pm Monday, June 22 in the Genesee Street Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bretn Dykema, Jeff Carpenter, Steve Carpenter, Kevin Harvey, Ellsworth Stralow and Steve Ward. Honorary pallbearer was John Gaffney. Madelyn Renkes was the organist. Rose Wiersema and Linda Heiden were soloists. Special selections were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Charm Dykema and Irene Bramm were in charge of flowers. Thomas was born Aug 15, 1956 in Erie, the son of Thomas J. and Marjorie (Taylor) Carpenter. he was reared and educated in Erie School District and graduated from Eire High School in 1975. He was a registered Eye Enucleation Technician in Iowa and Illinois. He moved to Morrison in 1976. He married Nancy Houzenga on April 2, 1977 in Morrison. He had worked at the Renkes-Reynolds Funeral Home for the past 10 years. He was a Republican candidate for Whiteside County coroner in the 1984 primaries. He was also a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church. survivors include his wife, one daughter, Megan and one son, Ben, both at home. his mother, Mrs. Marjorie Carpenter, Erie, three sisters, Mrs. Paul (Karen) Masscho, Erie, Mrs. Dan (Linda) Nelson, Morrison and Mrs. Mark (Connie) Pruis, Morrison and his maternal grandfather, George W. Taylor, Lyndon. He was preceded in death by his father. A memorial has been established for his children.
