Donald Lee Kane, 82, of Grants Pass died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the home of his stepdaughter in Grants Pass.

Services were held at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, with Ken Bern, pastor, officiating. Stephens Family Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.stephensfc.com.

He was born May 29, 1930, in Burlington, Wash., to Robert and Glendora Kane. From 1948 to 1952, he served in the Navy, including service during the Korean War. From 1975 to 1978, he worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. On Feb. 14, 1978, in Grants Pass, he married Jennie Theresa Combs, who died June 18, 1998.

In 1983, he moved to Oregon from Anchorage, Alaska. He was a millworker for CO-Gap Plywood Mill in Medford and Spalding and Son in Grants Pass, from which he retired.

He enjoyed watching sports, horse racing at the fairgrounds and raising farm animals.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Kane of Elbert, Colo., Greg Kane of Medford, and Brad Kane of Clatskanie; a stepson, Donavan Laumeyer of Grants Pass; three stepdaughters, Cindy Brooks of Arlington, Wash., Peggy Reed of Central Point, and Diane Hyde of Grants Pass; a brother, Richard Kane of Medford; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
