Seth died at Stoughton, Mass. at the age of 60 yrs. 3 mos. and 24 dys. [Source: Massachusetts Vital Records (1883 Deaths) 347:288]. The published and original vital records of Stoughton, Massachusetts do not record Seth's birth or that of his twin brother in 1823. That part of Stoughton where Seth is buried was once called "East Stoughton", and now is the incorporated town of Avon since 1888.

Note: The early records of the town of Stoughton for births and marriagesin that era are incomplete. His marriage in 1850 at the age of 26 does state he was born in Stoughton, as does his death record in 1883. The father of Seth Alden became a member of the Randolph Baptist Church in 1820. Since infant baptism is not recorded in the Baptist Church, no record of such an event can be located. [Source: Vital Records of Stoughton, Massachusetts to the end of the year 1850 (2008), p. 280].
