Floyd Chapman, horseman and resident of Marin for the past 23 years, died yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness. He was 76.
Born in Leavenworth, Kan., he moved to California 59 years ago.
A salesman for 52 years with the Sterling Furniture Co. in San Francisco, he was retired.
He was active in many horseman and fraternal organizations in the area. He was a member and past captain of the Marin County Mounted Sheriff's Posse and past president of the Tamalpais Trail Riders. With the San Rafael Kiwanis Club, he was responsible for rodeos at the Circle K Ranch in Fairfax.
Chapman was also a member of Marin Lodge No. 191, Free and Accepted Masons; Marin Pyramid No. 31, Sciots, and the American Association of Retired Persons.
He is survived by his wife Blanche D[odge] Chapman of 31 Corte Ortega, Greenbrae, and [half-]sister Minnie (nee Harpster) Douglas of San Fernando.
